My name is Ellen Bridgewater and I teach physical education in the LeClaire, Midway and Glen Carbon Elementary Schools. My bachelor's degree is in Physical Education, I have a minor in Family and Consumer Sciences and a Master's Degree in School Counseling. My general education courses included studies of educational psychology, child development and educational phyilosophy. The specialized courses for physical education included work in understanding children's physical development and how they learn motor skills, scientific aspects of body mechanics and muscular structure, as well as effective teaching techniques and progressions for a variety of lifetime fitness and sport activities.
In addition to my college course work, I played intercollegiate soccer and enjoyed playing intramural volleyball and basketball during my off-season time. Today, I still maintain my healthy lifestyle by bicycling, weight training and aerobic/fitness videos done in the comfort of my own home.
I have been teaching for the Edwardsville School District for 13 years with experience at all grade levels.
